Magistrate Hazel Octive-Hamilton yesterday refused to grant bail to South Ruimveldt resident Cleveland Emanuel who is accused of dousing a 17-year-old boy with gasoline and throwing a lighter on him.Emanuel, for whom it was a second court appearance related to the matter, was initially denied bail on Friday by Magistrate Alan Wilson.It is alleged that on August 10, last,David Silva Manchester City Jersey, with the intent to maim,Jordan Hamilton Toronto Jersey, disfigure or cause grievous bodily harm,Renato Augusto Brazil Jersey, he unlawfully and maliciously wounded Theon Adams.Yesterday Police Prosecutor Stephen Telford informed the court that the file has to be sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions for further advice.Emanuel is being represented by attorney at law Adrian Thompson in association with Sasha Roberts.His lawyers are arguing that the virtual complainant (VC) was the person who instigated the fight.“The incident happened a short distance away from my client’s house…..the VC was the person who went looking for trouble,”said the lawyer.Thompson had said that his client had made himself available to the police,Timothy Fosu-Mensah Jersey, minutes after the incident happened.The prosecution is contending that on the day in question,Kevin Wimmer Hotspur Jersey UK, the VC saw Emanuel assaulting a child,Mesut Ozil Jersey, and intervened. Telford said that Emanuel left and returned with a bottle of gasoline. After throwing the gasoline on the young boy, it is alleged that Emanuel threw a lighter on him.The young boy was engulfed in flames and later rushed to the Georgetown Hospital.Emanuel is scheduled to make another court appearance on September 1.
