The $300M School Uniform Assistance Programme is set to assist 165,000 students on the coastland and 26,500 in the hinterland,Joe Allen Jersey, according to the Ministry of Education.The programme which caters for learners from nursery to secondary schools aims to ensure that every child, particularly the vulnerable,Steven Berghuis Jersey, are not deprived of the opportunity to attend school because of the financial circumstances of their family.According to the Education Ministry,Joel Campbell Arsenal Jersey, the distribution starts on June 22 and is expected to end on July 8. However the exercise would be extended if necessary. The distribution at the primary and secondary levels will start at 14:30 hours and conclude at 17:30 hours during weekdays. And at the Nursery level it will be done between 12:00 and 14:00 hours.It was noted that assistance to Amerindian/Hinterland communities will be organised and spearheaded by the Amerindian Affairs Ministry. The vouchers will be redeemable at designated stores in the region.Last year, the government-funded programme to bolster students’ attendance throughout the country, got off to a smooth start and parents turned out in resounding numbers, the Ministry said.Minister Baksh called on parents to make full use of the intervention this year, noting that the goal is not only to ensure every school-aged child attends school but also complete the primary and secondary cycles, equipped with a sound education, and ready to make a meaningful contribution to the development of their country.The vouchers which will expire in September will be redeemable at designated stores in the various regions.Apart from the uniform programme, the government has allocated some $1B to the national school feeding programme which is also geared to improve students’ attendance and performance.
