The meters were subsequently taken to the Loss Reduction Department where they were further investigated and revealed signs of tampering or having a system in place to create a diversion of power where only a fraction of the energy consumed would have been recorded. Some had already made this payment on Tuesday. In addition, based on the accuracy of the projected reading by the meter when compared to the total appliances that a consumer owned, a ‘back bill’ was applied to the consumer’s account, 40% of which had to be paid before measures can be taken to repower the consumer. Those whose meter reading coincided with the energy consumed by the appliances were not required to pay the added sum.After meeting at the Sheriff Street office yesterday, where a further review of some cases took place, the residents were forwarded to make their payments. They were promised that once their payments were made, they would be repowered within two days. Most residents are expecting to be repowered today while it was confirmed that some had been up and running last evening.
