KINGSTON, CORRIVERTON – The Upper Corentyne Industrial Training Center continues to make a name for itself.Fifteen students of the institution are now doing the electrical installation at homes at Siparuta and Orealla on the Corentyne River. The team is headed by Electrical Instructor Fazal Walcott.Nateshwar BarranAccording to the Administrator of Upper Corentyne Industrial Training Center at Kingston Corriverton, Nateshwar Barran, the group travelled to the Amerindian Reservation of Siparuta on June 5th,NFL Jerseys From China, to commence the exercise based on a request made by the Orealla Village Council.The council provides the necessary materials for the project.During the first visit, 54 homes were done and last weekend the team was scheduled to complete the remaining nine structures.This Friday, June 19th, work is expected to commence at Orealla where some 25 homes are targeted.According to Mr. Barran, the 15 students have not yet completed their stint, but are using this to gain practical experience. He noted that no charge is attached to the service offered. When the job is completed, all of the homes are to be certified by the Region Six Inspector.The Orealla/Siparuta aspect of the project would also assist in securing trainees for the new semester,NBA Store, which is to commence in January 2010.The Administrator also indicated that in January, next year, a number of students, in the carpentry and masonry departments, are to construct two homes in the Orealla/Siparuta reservation. The owners of the buildings are expected to provide the necessary materials and the students will offer their service at no cost.Last year, the same batch of students built a two-bedroom wooden home at Number Fifty-three Village on the Corentyne in 12 days under the supervision of Head of the Carpentry Department Ramsaroop.According to the Principal, whenever the students have attained a certain level, they are sent on assignments at different locations to ply their trade.In 2008, 60 percent of the graduates gained employment immediately after their training was completed, as a result of the hands on exposure.He indicated that there is need for carpenters, welders and agriculture mechanics at the Skeldon Sugar Modernization Project, and the present trainees are to be placed there for a stint during the August vacation.Currently the carpentry, masonry, electrical installation, and plumbing students are involved in a maintenance job at the Skeldon Hospital.All courses at the Upper Corentyne Industrial Training Center are one year duration and are mainly in the trade areas – welding, fitting and machining, carpentry,Arizona Diamondbacks Fernando Rodney Jersey, masonry,Adidas Craig Smith Jersey, motor vehicle works, agriculture mechanics, and electrical installation.
