The two suspects who were held recently in connection with the brutal murder of the three crew members of the Island Princess were yesterday released on station bail.The men, a chicken farmer and a popular Parika businessman, were arrested Monday night after their names surfaced during the investigations.The men were placed on $100,000 station bail and told to report to the station daily.A senior police officer had told this newspaper that the Parika businessman was held because he owns a boat.The other suspect,Francis Coquelin Arsenal Jersey, according to the police source, is the brother-in-law of the boat owner Errol Charles.The source said that after the Island Princess left Parika, a crewmember allegedly made contact with the owner’s brother-in-law.The same suspect’s older brother is also wanted in connection with the murders. The source further explained that the suspect, who is believed to be hiding in neigbhouring Venezuela, is wanted in Guyana for a series of murders.Last week, a popular funeral parlour owner,Georginio Wijnaldum Netherlands Jersey, his brother and an employee were detained in connection with the murders. They also found navigational equipment on board the vessel. The vessel was also reportedly repainted.The owner of the boat, Errol Charles,Malik McDowell Jersey, had recently put up a $5M reward for the recovery of the boat.According to reports the crewmembers had taken the vessel on a trial run to test its seaworthiness for a planned trip to Trinidad. It later turned out that they had gone to uplift a shipment of illegal fuel in the Essequibo.
