The leader of the Alliance for Change (AFC),Marc Bartra Jersey, Khemraj Ramjattan, is optimistic that by early 2013, a Bill will be presented to Parliament in support of laws promoting whistleblower legislation. He added, “We are now on our own in relation to finding the precedent legislation in the Commonwealth.”Ramjattan said, “I had indicated as part of the legislative agenda for the Alliance for Change that we would like to get the government to help with the drafting of the legislation but the government does not want to give us any assistance in this regard.”The AFC leader noted that he had received the Commonwealth legislation in relation to whistleblower laws, but extra effort is needed to make the legislation more particular to Guyana.
