A 20 year-old miner,Tim Krul Jersey, of Old Road, Eccles, East Bank Demerara, was yesterday denied bail when he appeared before Magistrate Priya Beharry at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court, to answer the charge of trafficking in narcotics.It is alleged that on Monday last, the defendant was found with a black plastic bag containing 182 grams of cannabis,Enzo Perez Argentina Jersey, when he was apprehended by a police rank.The defendant, who was represented by attorney at law Vic Puran,Kaka Jersey, pleaded not guilty.The lawyer in a bail application requested that fingerprint testing should be done on the plastic bag. However Police Prosecutor,Emre Mor Jersey, Stephen Telford, questioned the wisdom of the request and objected to bail on the grounds of the evidence against the defendant.The miner was remanded to prison and is scheduled to make another court appearance on September 28.Also appearing before Magistrate Priya Beharry was Suresh Ramjatan, of 43 East Bush Lot,Cesc Fabregas Jersey, Essequibo Coast, who was charged with simple larceny.It is alleged that between September 3 and September 4, last, the defendant stole one gold ‘magic mat’ valued $80,000 and a quantity of raw gold valued $42,Riechedly Bazoer Netherland Jersey,000.The defendant, who was unrepresented, made an application for bail. Prosecutor Telford had no objection to bail.Ramjatan was granted bail to the tune of $ 150,000 and is scheduled to make his next court appearance on September 28.
