Operations at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) were unaffected yesterday despite the protest which was staged by nurses at the hospital.Several nurses yesterday halted the delivery of health care in order to protest what they described as the “unjust” termination of Director of Nursing Services,Jerseys From China, Matron Colleen Hicks. They also called for the removal of the hospital’s Chief Executive Officer,Chad Bettis Rockies Jersey, Michael Khan.Kaieteur News observed that the operations of the male and female surgical wards appeared to be normal as nurses were in their numbers attending to patients,Bobby Doerr Red Sox Throwback Jersey, despite about twenty of their workmates being outside voicing their concerns for a colleague who was dismissed.The patients were unanimous in their response that they have not been affected by the strike action as they have been receiving their treatment from the full complement of nurses.In the female ward patients said that nurses who were attending to them have not been in any way hostile as they have been carrying out their duties in a pleasant and professional manner.One patient said that she was not even aware of the protest and it was not until she peered through a window just above her bed that she realized what was happening.Kaieteur News understands that the operations of the institution were not significantly affected because it was mostly the Heads of Department who participated.
