‘The Rocky but Righteous Road to Independence’ is a publication that chronicles, through the eyes of the author, how Guyana became an independent nation. The author is Mr. Hamilton Green, who just days ago left the office of Mayor after serving in that capacity for more than two decades.Former Mayor, Mr. Hamilton GreenThe publication was completed just a few weeks ago in time to enlighten the nation about Guyana’s trek to independence even as preparations are being made to celebrate 50 years of independence.Guyana became an independent nation on May 26, 1966 effectively emancipating itself from British colonial rule.The introduction of the publication, according to Green, represents his “contribution to the youth and not so young of this country.”? The conference was held in London at Marble House in November of 1965.
