The Guyana Public Service Union (GPSU) is mourning the death of one of its great trade unionists.The late Leslie Melville.According to union yesterday, Leslie Melville died yesterday morning around 03:20hrs in Maryland,Pedro Chirivella Liverpool Jersey, USA. Melville, AA, had served the trade union movement “with distinction” for over 50 years,Anders Lindegaard Manchester United Jersey, GPSU said.He would have been 90 in April.He served as General Secretary, Education Officer and Consultant of the union; Principal Assistant Secretary,Jose Mauri Jersey, Guyana Trades Union Congress; Registrar of the Critchlow Labour College; GPSU’s Representative on the Public Service Appellate Tribunal and Commissioner of the Public Service Commission.“He was not only a great trade unionist but also a great Guyanese who was honoured with a National Award,Brad Jones Jersey, the Golden Arrowhead of Achievement (AA).He is survived by his wife, Leila Bibi Melville and four children- Ferril,Danny Rose Hotspur Jersey UK, Patrick,Raphael Guerreiro Dortmund Jersey, Gelline and David.“The Guyana Public Service Union wishes to express its sincere condolences to the family and friends of the late Leslie Melville.”
