Sean Griffith also known as “Chicken” appeared in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court yesterday to answer to the charges of assault causing actual bodily harm and robbery under arms. While the accused was not required to plead to the latter offence, he insisted his innocence when he pleaded not guilty to the assault charge.The 42-year-old man who resides at 170 Amelia’s Ward, Linden,Mario Balotelli Jersey, appeared before Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry.Allegations against Griffith read that on October 9 last at Konawaruk, Potaro,Dzenis Burnic Dortmund Jersey, he robbed Chandrapat Bahadur, the General Manager (GM) of S and D Jainarine Mining Enterprise, where he was previously employed.The defendant worked with the company but was fired after a misunderstanding at his job. It is alleged that he stole 15 ounces of raw gold valued at $4.5M belonging to the company’s owner, Deonarine Jaipersaud.The court heard that on the day of the incident,Jose De Jesus Corona Mexico Jersey, armed with a gun,Raheem Sterling Jersey, Griffith stuck up the GM and other workers as they returned from a “wash down”,Ederson Brazil Jersey, heading back to their camp. The defendant had reportedly dealt the workers lashes with the weapon, following which he took the gold away from Bahadur.Police in the area were subsequently alerted of the incident and a search for the suspect was conducted. Those present were told that 11 ounces and 64 grains of the mineral were recovered after the man’s apprehension.In another charge,Eric Bailly Jersey, Griffith was further accused of causing bodily harm to Steven Atkinson. The prosecution objected to bail, stating that according to information, the accused had threatened the life of the company’s owner and they were of the impression that if the man were released he may cause harm to the virtual complainant.Griffith thereafter was remanded for the offence . The matter was transferred to the Mahdia Magistrate’s Court where the accused will make his next appearance on October 19.
