In court he denied the charges.Police Prosecutor, Inspector Michael Grant did not present the facts in court but he opposed bail due to the nature, gravity, prevalence of these crimes and the penalty the offences attract. He told the Court that the police in Linden are investigating other matters in which De Freitas may be implicated.Grant suggested that De Freitas was a flight risk since he had been evading the clutches of the police for some time and was only arrested on Tuesday.The Chief Magistrate refused bail and the case will be called at the Linden Magistrate’s Court on January 27.
