NEW AMSTERDAM, BERBICE — Several sections of Region Six are under water as the rains continue.Some 18 inches of rainfall were recorded between December 18th and 25th in East Berbice /Corentyne. According to Regional Chairman Zulfikar Mustapha, this is the highest rainfall recorded over the past five years.He said that this has placed a severe strain on the system, which is designed to allow for the drainage of one and a half inches of water within a 24-hour period.As a result, Black Bush Polder, Number Nineteen Village,Off White Nike Vapormax Release Date, Whim, Bloomfield, Letter Kenny, Manchester to Alness,2018 Nike Air Max 90 Essential, Rose Hall Town, East Canje New Area and Eversham, along with some sections of New Amsterdam, are under flood water.The sluices and the six hydro flow pumps are in operation at Seawell, Rose Hall Town, Liverpool Village, Eversham, and two are at Number Forty-Three/Joppa.In addition, the Guyana Sugar Corporation has since loaned the Regional Administration 11 irrigators, and these are now at Belvedere Village, Letter Kenny, Whim, Rose Hall Town, Numbers Sixty-Seven,Cheap Nike Air Max 90 Essential, Sixty-Five and Fifty-One Villages, Wellington Park, Cumberland, Canefield New Area and Adelphi New Area.The pumps are assisting the regional drainage and irrigation system in East Berbice/Corentyne to drain the water from the communities,Cheap Jerseys From China, and the water level has since dropped in Cumberland, Canefield New Area,Adidas Nmd Shoes For Sale, Adelphi, Rose Hall Town, Bloomfield, Letter Kenny and Whim.The Black Bush Polder and Number Nineteen areas are still severely affected. “We are monitoring the situation. Many of the affected areas I am visiting on a daily basis with my officers, to listen to suggestions and see in what way we can offer assistance.”The Regional Chairman said that medical outreaches have been scheduled for Manchester, Whim and Black Bush Polder, since these communities are most affected.Today, the Administration is to extend the medical outreach programme to other affected areas. Extension Officers from the Department of Agriculture are visiting communities to deal with any situation which may arise as a consequence of the flooding.On Saturday, Mr. Mustapha and his team met with representatives of the Guyana Sugar Corporation, Regional Health Authority, Neighbourhood Democratic Councils, Municipalities, the Water Users’ Association and other stakeholders to discuss the situation. “Everyone was placed on high alert. We will be having a follow-up meeting on Wednesday.”On Boxing Day, Minister of Agriculture, Robert Persaud, visited East Berbice to inspect the situation.
