Allegations continued that on October 10, the accused obtained zinc sheets worth more than $278,000 from David Investments. They reportedly paid with a cheque signed by Horace Williams.On that same day, the accused reportedly forged another bank cheque and presented the document to Neesa Foster. The woman was presented a cheque on another occasion.On October 10, September 19 and September 30, the accused presented false cheques to Claudette Smith, which were purportedly signed by Horace Williams. On October 10, another forged cheque was presented by the accused which was again purportedly signed by Horace Williams.According to information received by this publication, Williams is a businessman who operates an engineering firm. It is alleged that the cheques bearing his company name had gone missing.When the accused reportedly went to purchase the items on the last occasion, one of the victims reportedly became suspicious about the document and called in the police. The accused were reportedly set up and caught in a sting operation.One of the victims made an appearance in court and he alleged that the two accused had duped several other business persons. He alleged that the accused fleeced business persons within a two-month period of over $50M and that they “should be put away”.Attorney-at-law Paul Fung-a-Fat represented the accused. He requested bail for the accused before stating that nothing was found with them. The lawyer alleged that no identification parade was held and the men were never pointed out.The prosecution did not object to bail but requested significant amounts for the men’s pre-trial liberty. They requested that the men lodge their travel documents and also report every Friday to the Criminal Investigations Department (CID).The court placed Budhoo on $125,000 bail while Ryan was given bail in the sum of $1M for the 12 charges he faces. The accused will return to court on November 29.
