– Police tell victim ‘We don’t have vehicle to come’A mother is currently thanking God for being alive and for the life of her four children after three men broke into their house but eventually fled empty-handed.Reports are that three men broke into a house at 350 Third Street, Grove,Andrea Poli Jersey, East Bank Demerara early yesterday morning.The victim,Gareon Conley Raiders Jersey, Tulsiedai Permaul, told this publication that on Tuesday night she went to Madir and upon her return, herself and four children retired to bed.According to Permaul later in the night,Chidobe Awuzie Youth Jersey, one of her sons told her that he didn’t feel like sleeping so she decided to stay up with him. However as the night progressed the woman said that her son fell asleep and so did she. The incident occurred at around 02:33 hours yesterday.“I went to bed but between sleep and wake I hear like people walking in the verandah,Adrian Peterson Jersey, so I call out for me son and ask if they going to the kitchen for water or something.”The woman said that after her sons responded in the negative,Larry Ogunjobi Youth Jersey, she began screaming for thieves.“I come out of the bedroom and stand up in the hall and I see one person like they went on the verandah and like two other person went at the back of the house…so I just start calling for my husband and telling he bring de gun.”Permaul said that after she began screaming she armed herself with a cutlass but did not make any attempts to go out to the verandah.While alerting and calling out for neighbours the woman said she heard the persons running down the front and back steps.By that time, Permaul said her neighbours had contacted the police at the Grove Police Station which is located a few corners away.“After the neighbours come out we notice that the persons had removed some louvers panes from the window at the verandah and had entered the house.”According to Permaul further checks about her house showed that the persons also removed a wooden bar which was used to secure the back door. The piece of wood was found in front of the yard. However nothing was stolen from the house.Permaul said she believes that the persons who broke into her house are well aware of her activities. The woman said that her husband is not home most of the time and the way the persons entered the house is a clear indication that they have been keeping an eye on her and her surroundings.Yesterday up to 13:30 hours, the police had still not visited the scene.This recent incident and the police response have sparked much anger in the community. Residents who spoke with this publication said that the police need to better respond to reports of robbery.“When these bandits come in your house they kill without thinking and take your things and the police take long to respond but if you kill them in your house the police reaching first word to arrest you,Francisco Rodriguez Mexico Jersey,” one resident lamented.
